Why It’s Vital That Game Freak Don’t Rest On The Laurels

The thing is, though, Game Freak will have an enormous winner on their hands whatever they do. That’s just the cachet of the Pokémon series.

With the weight of such a reputation on their shoulders, it’s little wonder that the team don’t want to stray too far or take too many risks. As time goes on, though, it might be becoming more important to do so.

With imitators and pretenders becoming more accomplished and the fanbase growing older and more discerning, a ‘lazy’ Pokémon game could cause a bigger PR disaster than ever before.

TemTem is growing into quite the phenomenon in its own right, with multiplayer potential that could even be beyond the series that inspired it (Nintendo have never been big on online multiplayer, which doesn’t help there).

Perhaps, in the future, Pokémon will have more solid competition on its hands. If that’s the case, it’ll take more than a name to continue that long, proud legacy. Who knows where TemTem will be in the not so distant future?
