PS Vita Sales Reach 1.2 Million Worldwide

Some 600,000 PS Vitas have been sold in the west since it was released last week.

Sales for the PS Vita may have been sluggish in Japan, but once the system was released in the US and Europe sales figures are looking much better. According to Sony the PS Vita has now sold more than 1.2 million systems worldwide; some 600,000 PS Vitas have been sold in the west since it was released last week. Andrew House, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment:
"PS Vita was designed to deliver the ultimate portable entertainment experience, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the reaction we're seeing from consumers and the pace at which PS Vita is selling. The market has responded and there is clear demand for a mobile device capable of providing a revolutionary combination of rich gaming and social connectivity within a real-world context. To sustain momentum, we're working closely with thirdparty developers and publishers to ensure the best games and franchises possible will be available on PS Vita, and our software lineup for the remainder of 2012 will have something for everyone across the globe."
In addition, sales of PS Vita games have been encouraging as well; 2 million games have been sold at retailers and through digital downloads. Not to mention that Uncharted: Golden Abyss topped the UK sales chart this week. In other words, PS Vita may not be dead on arrival as some video game prognosticators had predicted. Have any of you bought a PS Vita yet and if so what are your impressions of it and the games?
