5. Old Games Will Be Patched To Take Advantage Of The Pro

Looking ahead to after the console launches, pretty much every new release game will be enhanced to get the most out of the PS4 Pro. That's all very well and good, but what about that huge library of games you've already bought for your standard PS4? Fortunately, Sony has a solution.

With a process the company has dubbed "forward compatibility", existing PS4 titles can be retroactively updated for the PS4 Pro as long as the developer is willing to invest the necessary time and money to do so. This means that older games can potentially look sharper, crisper, and smoother than ever before, and even better, these updates will be free for those who already own the game.

On the down side, not many developers seem to be jumping on the bandwagon here, and who can blame them - why waste resources on older games when you can craft newer, more exciting titles? Currently, first-party exclusives like Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and The Last Of Us: Remastered are in line to receive a PS4 Pro update, along with third-party titles like Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
