PS5: 10 Major Worries Sony MUST Address

For the most part, Sony has steered clear of brutally unethical monetisation. The addition of paid online play may have been a disappointment after getting it for free in the seventh generation, but the additional fees mostly stopped there.

The occasional title did include microtransactions, most notably the Gran Turismo series, but they weren't nearly as aggressive as Microsoft was with the Xbox One. By focusing on single-player titles, the PlayStation team has held faith in earning its success, rather than trying to squeeze a few extra pennies out of gamer's wallets.

However, that could be about to change for the next PlayStation. In September last year it was announced that company CEO Shawn Layden was stepping down and was eventually replaced by Jim Ryan as head of the PlayStation brand.

Layden had been a regular fixture at Sony for over thirty years; he knew the brand well and had a very clear focus when it came to getting the PlayStation 4 up to scratch. Jim Ryan on the other hand is said to be a more old-school business type, and this could drastically change PS5's direction going forward, potentially for the worst.
