Initially, this was meant to be a four-player squad-shooter based on the fascinating life story of ex-Marine Richard Marcinko.

Instead, a troubled development cycle leads to this half-baked product with shoddy graphics, OTT violence, and Mickey Rourke’s torrent of curse words. The final result is so bafflingly misguided, it has to be commended for some kind of award: they didn’t just mess up a potentially good game, they did so in a scorched earth explosion.

It's a barren FPS shooter that can be completed in under four hours on Normal, and consists of the same mission basically repeated, as Rourke’s version of Marcinko goes into North Korea, shoots a bunch of soldiers, plants a few bombs, and curses a lot. Then he goes to Russia and does exactly the same thing... that’s it.

Still, this game has become a cult hit for good reason...

Rourke coming off a career comeback with The Wrestler snatched up this quick paycheque and mumbles elaborate zingers like “Goddamn c--k-breath commie motherf-----s!” with as much enthusiasm as a morning bowel movement, but the man does elevate the game into the hilariously enjoyable territory.

And therein lies its strength: it’s a game so bad and ill-advised that it is endlessly entertaining.

A total rip-off at full price, but picked up for two quid on a Steam sale, it makes for a perfect play-through for one evening with a mate and some beers.
