Built from scratch by Microsoft for the daunting task of continuing the Halo franchise after Bungie left, 343 were given the double-edged sword of progressing Master Chief's story after his satisfyingly open-ended finale.
So, Halo 4 was never going to meet expectations, yet it was a stronger game than most recognised it as, sporting a solid (but safe) campaign with a good storyline and bloody gorgeous graphics.
Since then 343 have fumbled the ball though; a broken and buggy launch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection was followed by the highly underwhelming Halo 5: Guardians. It was a one-two punch that pissed off fans and led to a franchise hiatus.
Now, with enough time for gamers to grow hungry for the brand, the ball is in their court for Halo: Infinite - let's hope they're up to the task.
