Notable Games: Contrast, We Happy Few

In Development: Unknown

Acquired by Microsoft just this year, Compulsion has only held a brief period as an active studio but still managed to gain a reputation as one of the more compelling indie developers out there - yet one, that has been struggling to make a breakthrough game.

Contrast was a platformer with an alluring concept, stunning art and a wonderful story but it underwhelmed with the actual gameplay. Similar complaints and results followed We Happy Few, which released this year after a large build-up of hype - and then pretty much disappeared into thin air soon after.

This new relationship with Microsoft is intriguing though; perhaps with a publisher throwing money and resources their way, Compulsion can blossom into the exciting developer it has the potential to be - or it could just weed out its uniqueness. Let's stay hopeful then!
