1. Naughty Dog

Not many will be surprised to see this developer at number 1 - and with good reason.
Despite being around since 1984, Naughty Dog only rose to prominence in parallel to the PS1’s success; they created the console's first essential title with Crash Bandicoot, and that character took the mantle of Sony's (first of many) mascots. As they went into the PS2 era, the developer had much success with the Jak & Daxter series.
Yet, it was really with the PS3 console they stepped their game considerably up; creating the machine's first must-play franchise with the Uncharted series, and then topping it off with The Last Of Us; a masterpiece game and fitting console swansong.
In recent years, they really show no sign of decreasing and are rightfully heralded as the shining gem Sony first-party army - with a flawless ability to create technically marvellous experiences with satisfying gameplay and deeply involving stories.
It's a slightly obvious (and for some tiring) statement but Naughty Dog is not only the greatest current Sony first-party studio, but likely the greatest current first-party studio...period.
