Ranking Every Silent Hill Video Game From Worst To Best

2. Silent Hill 3

Shifting gears from the more somber tone of Silent Hill 2, this third entry in the series went balls-to-the-wall in the gross-out horror department, with each area positively dripping with all manner of viscera and twisted imagery.

A direct sequel to the first game, players took the reigns of the series' first female protagonist, Heather Mason. A feisty young girl that without warning ends up journeying to Silent Hill, must battle her way through all manner of creatures and psychotic cult members to get to freedom.

Narratively speaking, this is perhaps the most lore-heavy entry in the series, and greatly expands upon the world in both interesting and disturbing ways, but those who aren't familiar with the original game may find themselves a little lost.

Decidedly much harder than its predecessors and sporting a younger, and arguably more relatable protagonist, Silent Hill 3 is a definite high point in the franchise that in the eyes of many was the last truly great Silent Hill game.

It contains all the right ingredients, but its unforgiving difficulty and overall lack of innovation from previous titles mean it falls just short of the top spot.
