Ranking Every Silent Hill Video Game From Worst To Best
1. Silent Hill 2
Arguably the finest horror game of all time, Silent Hill 2 has lost none of its tenacity, tension, or terror in the almost twenty years since its release.
Telling the immensely depressing and disturbing tale of James Sunderland, a widower with numerous skeletons in the closet who embarks on a journey to Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his wife Mary, saying that she'll meet him in their special place. A prospect that would sound rather wholesome, if it wasn't for the fact that Mary has been dead for three years.
To recount all the reasons why Silent Hill 2 is so good would require a list of its own, and we likely wouldn't be saying anything that hasn't been said before in regards to its quality. Sure, it may suffer from some of the technical hitches that were commonplace for the era, but when everything else about the experience is so expertly crafted, it's easy to let such minor quibbles go.
Even in the face of some wonky controls and a somewhat unruly camera, Silent Hill 2 is still pound-for-pound the most finely tuned horror experience that the medium has to offer and you owe it to yourself to experience it.
