Speaking of this section of the game, most people don't realise that it plays out differently depending on which region you're in.

Of course, Resident Evil 4's gameplay style was a dramatic shift from the titles of old. Even the development team were unsure about it but it's safe to say it paid off.

At the very least, in Japan they paid homage to the games that came before it.

This short playable Ashley section is functionally the same in the Japanese version except that it plays out through a series of fixed cameras. It's not known why this was changed for other regions, perhaps consistency, but it's a loving nod to Resi's own classic survival horror style.
