8. How To Parry Attacks

In the heat of being hunted down by a family of ravenous cannibals, it's easy to forget you've got a dedicated block button.

However, at any time, you can prod L1/LB to bring your hands up. You can even do so unarmed to block a good chunk of damage, but hit the button half a second before an enemy makes contact and you'll pull off a parry, often pushing them back and opening them up for a counter-strike or headshot.

The key to winning multiple boss battles is in parrying, so although the early game and other survival horror games have taught us to run and hide, going on a confident offensive can occasionally pay dividends.
