Resident Evil: Albert Wesker Explained
The Fall Of Umbrella
Umbrella didn’t fall overnight and it was a lengthy process, but whichever way you look at it, the corporation eventually fell thanks to the handy work of Albert Wesker. Even before the Raccoon City Incident, Wesker had desires to either take over or form his own future. One that he could lead, but this meant taking out the key players first.
Before he went into a full-time business for himself, Wesker would aline with one of Umbrella’s top rivals, the Organisation. From here he would become a spy for them and Albert act as a middle man between the Organisation and Ada Wong.
Being Ada’s contact throughout the Raccoon City Incident, Albert would keep his trust for this super-secret agent at arm's length, but eventually, guide her out once she completed her mission and stole a sample of William Birkin’s Golgotha Virus.
This would go onto only be the start of this partnership.
As the leading operative for the Hive-Host Capture Force, Wesker took the fight to Umbrella on Rockford Island with the goal of stealing the T-Veronica Virus. Samples of the Virus were hard to come by, and Wesker wasn’t only confronted by ex-fellow S.T.A.R.S member, Chris Redfield, but here he would be introduced to Claire Redfield and even collide with Alexia Ashford. In a mansion that resembled that of the one in the Arkley Mountains, the two fought before Wesker fled, leaving Chris to clean his mess up once again.
He would be unsuccessful in finding T-Veronica samples, but. the HCF soon learned that one Steve Burnside was infected with the said virus, after being used as a test subject by Alexia. Through Steve Burnside Wesker and the HCF would complete their mission of occurring the T-Veronica Virus they came for and did significant damage to Umbrella in the process.
After this Wesker would learn of Umbrella’s Caucasus laboratory which was being run by Sergei Vladimir. Wesker had once collided with the former U.B.C.S operative before in during the Spencer Mansion Incident, but now was his time to take out this key high ranking Umbrella operative for good.
In the Twilight of Umbrella, Wesker leaked the TALOS project to former S.T.A.R.S members Chris and Jill, using them as a cover to not only kill Sergei Vladimir, but an opportunity to steal his data and shut down the Red Queen for good. Leaking a vast majority of the data, this signalling the end of Umbrella.
