Risen 2: Dark Waters Release Date Revealed

Deep Silver announce the release dates for the upcoming pirate RPG.

Pirate RPG. There are two words that deserve to have shared space on game boxes far more than they have - I blame it all on Geena Davis and Cutthroat Island personally - but Risen 2: Dark Waters will go some way to redressing the balance when it arrives. And now, thanks to Deep Silver, we have a firm idea of when that will be. Risen 2: Dark Waters will be available on 27th April for PC, on 22nd May in the USA and Canada and on 25th May in European countries for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The game centres around the hero, who is dispatched by the Inquisition to seek a remedy against the monstrous sea creatures that are interfering with the shipping lines and cutting off the islands' supplies. The islands' resident pirates seem to know all too well how to deal with the threat, but choose to remain stoically unhelpful. Players will see some new gameplay elements, including the use of firearms and special new skills called Dirty Tricks, allowing them to confuse or attack enemies in combat. The game will be available via digital distribution for PC, and for both PC and consoles as a retail version, as well as a Collector€™s Edition in certain territories. Here's the launch trailer for those of you who missed it. Be prepared for some salty, rum-soaked action: http://youtu.be/FkFk3oduApQ And here's the full synopsis from the game's official site:
Many horrible years have passed since the Gods abandoned the world and the titans rose from the confines of their prisons. They devastated everything in their path with unstoppable force. However, there is a place on the southern tip of the Old Empire which still seems safe from the clutches of the Titans €“ the €œCrystal Fortress€ in Caldera. It is the headquarters of the Inquisition and a place of refuge for the people. It is repeatedly attacked by sea monsters, and supply ships are sunk en route. Nobody knows how long the walls will hold; food and weapons are gradually running out. The nameless hero, devastated by the developments on Faranga, now drowns his sorrows in rum in the harbour town Caldera. As the situation grows more and more dire due to the shortage of food, he sets out on a mission to put an end to the sea monsters once and for all. During his adventurous journey he not only faces new and immense challenges, he also meets old acquaintances who help him on his quest.
