Sick Of Bad PlayStation Plus Games? Now You Can Vote For Your Favourites
All right everyone, Grow Home, yeah?
Both PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live's Games with Gold services got off to fairly rocky starts across 2014. For anyone yet to cough up the notes for a yearly subscription to either service, it's basically a way for both companies to throw up a "Buy now and get free games instantly!" tag on their advertising materials. Sadly, those free titles (and the quality therein) felt as lacklustre and ill thought-out as the consoles did at launch, resulting initially in a string of titles like Road Not Taken, Apotheon or Stick it to the Man - games you'd play once, note a cool mechanic or a charming sense of indie-dev spirit - and then never touch again. More recent months have given way to the phenomenal Rocket League, Guacamelee and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, it's safe to say Microsoft's offerings have been more substantial; kicking out newer titles far more frequently like Child of Light and Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. To combat that, Sony are introducing a service called 'Vote to Play', whereby through a constantly-changing tally across all PlayStation Plus members (you'll need a paid subscription to cast a vote), you can pledge one point towards any three available titles for the upcoming month. Sadly you can't pick from the entire pantheon of backdated games on PSN, but this is still an awesome step in the right direction - and if come the close of the month you're stuck with a low-budget title that looks as though it'd be more at home on your phone, well, you've only got each other to blame. Speaking of home, as Ubisoft's little platforming gem Grow Home is featured in the press shots for this, it's safe to say home consoles are about to get a whole lot cuter - let's just make sure it doesn't lose to, erm... Zombie Vikings, okay? What games do you hope get added to next month's tally, and on the flip-side, which would you hope never get pitted against each other - as you could never pick a winner? Let us know in the comments!
