It was widely rumoured and hotly anticipated in the days leading up to The Game Awards, and lo and behold, it turned out to be true!

Following the success of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy last year, Activision dropped a reveal trailer for an HD remake of the much-loved kart racer Crash Team Racing, re-dubbed "Nitro-Fueled" in its new iteration.

Skylanders developers Beenox are undertaking the ground-up remake, which will bring the game back in all of its original glory alongside an online multiplayer mode, and will launch for the consumer-friendly price of $40 just like N. Sane Trilogy.

You can throw down $60 for the Nitrous Oxide edition, though, which will unlock the game's iconic boss from the outset.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled releases on June 21 of next year for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and you can probably expect a PC announcement soon enough. Get hype.
