Obsidian released the surprise debut trailer for their new AAA project, which for a few moments probably had fans convinced it was going to be Fallout: New Vegas 2 (and Bethesda sure could've used the positive PR right about now).

Sadly that wasn't the case, but the studio's new game The Outer Worlds does nevertheless seem like a spiritual successor to their much-loved RPG title.

The first-person shooter RPG will unfold on the harsh, unforgiving rim of outer space, with Fallout vets Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain heading up development.

The visuals and especially the art direction look remarkable, while the tone seems like it's not going to take itself particularly seriously. The Outer Worlds releases sometime next year for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
