The Game Awards 2018: 9 Rumours & Leaks That Must Happen

8. Alien: Blackout Teaser

Death Stranding
Creative Assembly

Seemingly out of nowhere, a random leak mentioned a possible new project regarding a certain Alien with a very specific (and extremely sharp) tail coming to gamers in the immediate future. Considering how quiet things have been surrounding the Alien IP following Alien: Covenant's lukewarm reception now doesn't exactly seem like the hottest time for the franchise.

However, disregarding the film side, Creative Assembly's Alien Isolation was a superb title that took everything that people loved about the series' first installment and made it playable. With such success, you'd think a sequel would've come sooner. Yet, if this report is to be taken as Gospel, Blackout will be a far different experience than Isolation. Apparently, Blackout will be adopting the universally-unloved 'games as a service' structure and will be an online, multiplayer game.

Don't light that torch yet, as it could be the Alien: Colonial Marines that gamers never got. A co-op experience where you fight off Aliens in strategic, tense firefights. However, if it does turn out to be a Battle Royale game, then 20th Century Fox should know the visceral reactions they'll get.
