The Game Awards 2018 Nominations: 4 Ups & 6 Downs
1. The Separate "Action" & "Action/Adventure" Categories

One of the weirdest layout decisions for The Game Awards is the choice to offer up two separate categories for "Action" and "Action/Adventure" games.
Under the action umbrella, the nominees were Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Dead Cells, Destiny 2: Forsaken, Far Cry 5 and Mega Man 11, while action-adventure saw Assassin's Creed Odyssey, God of War, Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider nominated.
Is there really enough between these games to separate them into two different buckets? Why not just make a 10-game field under a unified action/adventure banner and be done with it?

So, The Game Awards still has some work to do, but it certainly wasn't all bad either. Here are the best takeaways from the nominations announcement...
