3. The Story Features An Ensemble Cast

The story of the original game was very much centred around Ellie and Joel, to the point where there wasn't even a single scene that didn't feature one of the characters. However, for the sequel, the writers are looking to expand the story beyond those two heroes.

They've made that clear with the two trailers released so far, with one of them - arguably the more illuminating one - not featuring either character. Instead it ushered in a brand new cast, teasing their role in the upcoming story.

Likewise, the devs have said themselves that the new game would feature an "ensemble cast", and while the central story will still very much be Ellie and Joel's, would expand beyond those two characters.

Fortunately, Naughty Dog have always knocked it out the park when it comes to creating rich supporting players - just look at the likes of Tess or David in the first game - so it will be interesting to see them enjoy a larger role in the upcoming release.
