5. Tommy Is Shot In The Head, But Survives
There are many instances in The Last Of Us 2 when characters are almost instantly killed with no warning. Poor Jesse is shot straight in the face when he emerges from a theatre door, and Manny gets half his face blown off too by Tommy and his sniper rifle.
However, there's one 'death' that was really quite shocking. That was Tommy's. As Joel's brother, you'd think he'd have some hefty plot armour. That, however, doesn't stop Abby from unceremoniously shooting him point blank in the head.
That's shocking enough - but fast forward a bit further, and you'll find out that somehow, Tommy survives being shot in the head. He's pretty banged up, with some nasty facial disfigurements and a missing eye, but he's still very much alive.
This is a true WTF moment. How the hell did Tommy survive? How did they get a man who'd been shot in the head all the way back from Seattle for medical treatment? It's all left a complete mystery, and if we're honest, it seems pretty unlikely that Tommy would be able to survive his wounds for the length of time (said in game to be several weeks) that it takes them to get back.
