The Witcher TV Show: 5 Games Netflix Should Adapt Next
1. Mass Effect
Top Casting Pick: Saoirse Ronan as Liara T’Soni
There’s been a yawning gap in the market for a space opera since Firefly was cancelled. If it wasn’t for video games’ spotty-at-best history of live action adaptions, surely this would have already happened. With Game Of Thrones ending next year, HBO could do worse than investing that dragon gold into BioWare’s classic.
Across the original trilogy, Mass Effect boasts a great cast and a range of engaging narratives to explore. Even in the huge scope of the 300 hour gameplay, some cult favourite races were overlooked. The Hanar, Drell and Elcor could all get some much needed attention in a long running TV show. And I’m sure everyone involved would want to right the wrongs of that truncated ending.
Cast wise, the game already features recognisable names Yvonne Strahovski, Keith David, Freddie Prinze Jr and Martin Sheen. While they might not all return, Ronan seems a perfect fantasy choice for Liara. The Asari scientist has arguably the most growth throughout and the Irish double-Oscar nominee is more than up to the task.
We’re avoiding casting Shepard as it could be BroShep or FemShep. Although despite Jennifer Hale’s brilliant characterisation, probably BroShep to be honest.
