Castlevania: Rondo of Blood's protagonist, Richter Belmont, returns in direct sequel Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, though far from how many fans expected.

Players take control of Dracula's son Alucard this time around, who eventually locates a long-missing Richter - but there's a catch.

Richter is acting very strangely, claiming to be the new lord of Dracula's castle and planning to resurrect the vampire so that they can battle for an eternity.

A boss battle with Richter soon enough breaks out, but if you simply decide to destroy him unthinkingly, you'll trigger the bad ending, locking you out from the entire second half of the game.

Rather, you need to equip the holy glasses and destroy the green orb controlling Richter, caused by Dracula's priest lackey Shaft.

After this, you'll fight your way through an inverted duplicate of Dracula's castle before eventually battling Shaft and then the real final boss, ol' Drac himself.
