8 Video Game Protagonists You Fought In The Sequel
4. Kazuma Kiryu - Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Yakuza: Like a Dragon saw Kazuma Kiryu's 15-year reign as the protagonist of the Yakuza franchise come to an end, with the baton being passed to the goofy golden retriever in human form that is Ichiban Kasuga.
But of course, Sega couldn't resist but have Ichiban take on the Dragon of Dojima for the fan service of it all.
In the unsubtly titled late-game chapter "Passing the Torch," Kiryu stands in the way of Ichiban's progress, insisting that he needs to hold his own against him in battle before he'll allow him to proceed.
And so, we get to throw down with the certified badass we've spent so many years playing as, in what's unsurprisingly one of the trickier boss fights in the game.
Hilariously, though, even once you deplete Kiryu's life bar, the following cutscene shows Ichiban totally gassed and overwhelmed, while Kiryu looks like he's barely broken a sweat.
