Uncharted 4: 11 Things We Hated
10. Sony Product Placement
I thought a franchise as revered as Uncharted might be a little above blatant product placement, but apparently not.
Sony made their presence felt in the game by having their Xperia Z5 phone appear a few times throughout, such as during a cut-scene when Elena is awaiting a call from Nate, during gameplay when Nate has to take photos of a tricky puzzle to send to Sam, and also during multiplayer, where a player can perform a selfie taunt over a downed foe.
Yes, it's vaguely amusing the first time you see it, but it's also ridiculously on-the-nose, and one has to wonder exactly how this deal came about. It's ultimately just rather jarring and pulls the player out of the game for a moment.
This is not the place to sell mobile phones.
