7. Fly Keyword Has Been Changed Dramatically

The Fly keyword in 8th edition had more remakes than the King Kong franchise.

Games Workshop didn’t know how to treat our flying units and it showed in the constant updates to how the keyword interacted with the board. Trying to find the balance between the lore of flying units and not making them completely overpowered in game was a difficult rope to walk.

One of the interactions that was the most polarising was the ability to fall back and shoot, whereas a regular unit could not. It always felt unfair that a floating tank could just move back and bring its weapons to bear when a super tank on tracks could not.

Luckily, they have chosen to do away with this ability much to the disappointment of Aeldari players and all of their floating tanks. However, let’s be fair the Eldar players out there have plenty to be unhappy with in the current state of the game…
