Watch Dogs 2: 10 Massive Improvements Over The First Game

4. No Watch Towers

Clumsily climbing towers in order to access locked off parts of the world map has become a tried and detested part of Ubisoft games, ever since the original Assassin's Creed.

It might create the illusion of progress, but all it really does is limit freedom, and prevent the player from truly appreciating the vast open worlds Ubisoft creates. Such towers were present in the original Watch Dogs, in the form of CTOS hotspots that needed to be hacked into, in order for map markers to appear visible.

The thing is... if Aiden Pierce had the ability to hack into anything at the push of a button, why was the ability to view a map so paramount to his mission?

Such trivial and archaic design choices were removed from Watch Dogs 2, and it's all the better for it.

This might mean that a lower levelled Marcus can stumble into difficult missions from the get go, but this creates interesting opportunities to utilise stealth, gadgets, and non-lethal takedowns. It also allows the player to drink in the gift of San Fransisco, without any pesky invisible walls.
