WWE 2K17: 10 Most Shocking Roster Omissions

1. Roddy Piper

How do you do Roddy Piper’s career justice? Simply put, he’s one of the most important figures in WWE history.

Though never WWE Champion, his feud with Hulk Hogan made him one of the most notorious heels in the business, and his microphone work stands-up with the best of them. From brawling with Mr. T to smashing Jimmy Snuka with a coconut, Piper, at his peak, was responsible for some truly iconic moments, and he was always considered one of WWE’s best wrestlers throughout his first run with the company.

Yet Piper is nowhere to be found on 2K17. Instead, the Legends roster is padded-out with names like Papa Shango, Brutus Beefcake and Tatanka, who, with all due respect, didn’t have a fraction of Piper’s impact on the business between them.

Hot Rod was included as DLC last year, so maybe 2K will do the same with 2K17, but this is a guy who’s regarded by many of his peers as one of the most influential wrestlers of all-time. 2K’s Legends section usually features a few dozen all-time greats mixed with a smattering of cult favourite midcarders, and it looks like the developers have decided to cut Piper in favour of the latter group this year.
