Xbox Game Pass: 10 Must-Plays You Should Try
4. The Outer Worlds
Not to be confused with Outer Wilds, this sci-fi RPG is essentially the spiritual successor to Fallout: New Vegas, sharing the same developer and many of the same personnel as the latter.
However, it is distinctly its own game, as it takes place not on a post-apocalyptic Earth, but, as its name suggests, the outer worlds of the galaxy, long after space colonisation has begun.
With a large dose of humour and pop culture references present across all of the quests, characters and locales, the thing that makes this game particularly appetising is the freedom the player has. Near enough anyone and everyone can be killed, if you so choose, without rendering the game impossible to finish.
This design choice is not something that can be said about the likes of Skyrim or Fallout, where essential NPCs will simply drop to their knees for a few seconds, and then hold a vendetta against you for the rest of eternity.
Whether you enjoy sci-fi and geeky references, first-person shooters, story-driven games or murderous rampages, The Outer Worlds will have something for everyone.
