Xbox Vs PlayStation: Ranking EVERY Launch Line-Up From Worst To Best

Tekken xbox launch lineup ps2

Launch Date: 2000

Notable Games: Tekken: Tag Tournament, TimeSplitters, SSX

The PS2 busted up the gaming scene when it arrived. It certainly helped the only competition was a declining Sega, an out of touch Nintendo, and nascent Microsoft, with third-party devs eager to provide Sony with content.

The PS2 still stands as the most successful (and beloved) consoles ever made, with an iconic collection of IP and franchises decorating its lifespan, and the launch line-up nothing to shake a stick at either.

Sure, some of it was shovelware, like Q-Ball Billiards Master or ESPN International Track and Field, but the majority was varied and flavourful, from hidden gem puzzler FantaVision to Rockstar's tense racer Smuggler's Run, to the epic battle-sim Kessen.

That isn't even the top tier though, that was: Tekken: Tag Tournament, a series pinnacle, SSX, the best snowboarding game ever, TimeSplitters, an inventive FPS by Goldeneye's creators, and Ridge Racer V, the most impressive racer of its gen.

The meaty line-up held a total of twenty-eight games, and a stonking TWENTY FOUR of those were all console exclusives... something completely unheard of in present gaming, and will likely never be seen again.
