10 Horror Franchises Where Every Movie Is Good

6. Hatchet

Between 2007 and 2017, Adam Green's slasher throwback franchise Hatchet released four entries that were more-or-less of the same quality.

That is to say, they were rough-hewn, low-budget offerings that nevertheless won a loyal fanbase thanks to their over-the-top gore and charming tone.

None of the films have been outright critical darlings, but they've all performed well enough within their niche fandom, serving up riotous, playful homages to its most obvious inspiration - the Friday the 13th franchise.

Despite the most recent film, Victor Crowley, being the best-reviewed entry in the series and also proving to be a commercial success according to Green, we've gone the better part of a decade without a new Hatchet.

In an interview back in June, however, Green suggested that behind-the-scenes issues were to blame, stating that the series needs to be "under new management" before a fifth Hatchet can go into production.

Here's hoping the red tape gets navigated soon enough and Green delivers another off-the-wall sequel.
