7. Terrifier

When Terrifier was first released back in 2018, few could've ever anticipated the pop-culture phenomenon that it would become.

But between its outrageous practical gore and instantly iconic antagonist in Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), filmmaker Damien Leone proved what could be achieved on a shoestring budget with fierce determination.

Terrifier was enough of a success that the decidedly bigger-budget Terrifier 2 was released in 2022, and was an altogether slicker, more epic outing which also one-upped the gloriously revolting gore effects.

And then the Christmas-themed Terrifier 3 released last year to solid acclaim once again, as well as a mind-boggling box office gross of over $90 million against a mere $2 million budget.

The Terrifier films won't be for everyone and certainly have their fair share of flaws - pacing being a considerable one in the last two - but Leone clearly has ambitions beyond merely rehashing the same scuzzy formula again and again.

Above all else, it'll interesting to see how he scales-up once again for the upcoming Terrifier 4.
