10 Horror Movie Plot Twists That Were Totally Pointless
4. The Gallows - Pfeiffer Is Charlie's Daughter
As if this Blumhouse found-footage horror wasn't already bad enough, it flips its unfortunate audience off one more time with one of the most unnecessary plot twists you'll ever see.
This rancid work follows a group of high school students stuck in their high school at night. They've gone in to sabotage the set of the play one of them is about to star in, as he's now too intimidated to perform. Wouldn't a chat with the teachers have sufficed? Just saying.
Unfortunately for them, they're not alone. During a performance of this school play 20 years earlier, a student named Charlie (Jesse Cross) died when a hanging scene went wrong, and his vengeful spirit is now haunting the group. Charlie's ghost kills most of them, until only Pfeifer (Pfeifer Brown) is left alive, and The Gallows then reveals that Pfeifer is Charlie's daughter... to thunderous apathy.
This wasn't interesting, it wasn't thought-provoking, it didn't enhance the story in any way... just why? Oh, of course, everything has to be connected.
