10 Horror Movie Twists We All Saw Coming
6. Liz Is Lying - The Hole
The Hole revolves around teenage loner Liz (Thora Birch), who decides to check out a local bomb shelter with her schoolmates. When the door seals itself shut, Liz and her friends find themselves trapped. As the group begin to starve, they become hysterical and kill one another, until Liz is the sole survivor.
After speaking to a psychiatrist, Liz eventually confesses she deliberately locked herself and her classmates in the bunker, hoping she could manipulate her friend, Mike, to fall in love with her. Although the twist is a good idea, it doesn't take much to know something is amiss with Liz's initial testimony, as she comes across as duplicitous and obsessive from the beginning. Even when she recounts the ordeal in a way where she paints herself as a victim, Liz still seems cunning and manipulative.
When the psychiatrist points out inconsistencies in her story, it's apparent Liz is anything but a victim, making it impossible to trust anything she says.
Despite the fact the film ends with Liz getting away scot-free, she shouldn't have, since her account of the events didn't add up at all.
