15 Seemingly Terrible Horror Castings That Totally Paid Off

11. House Of 9 - Kelly Brook

Over the years, there have been many less-than-stellar acting turns from established models. Rose Huntington-Whitely in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Cara Delevingne is Suicide Squad, Gabriella Wilde in 2013's Carrie remake, Andie MacDowell in most things she's ever done.

Such people might appeal to casting directors due to their beauty but given their acting inexperience, they weren't necessarily right for their parts. It would be easy to assume that glamour model Kelly Brook was cast as the lead of House of 9, a British death game horror, because she's one of the UK's most fancied women.

Well, not necessarily. Kelly Brook actually does really well as this movie's Final Girl. She vividly portrays a terrified woman in mortal danger and confidently holds her own opposite more experienced actors such as Dennis Hopper and Peter Capaldi, showing that she's got more range than many probably assumed.

Brook hasn't done a lot of acting since this, with her most high-profile role in subsequent years being her part as a porn-star in Piranha 3D, which was a role that very much utilized her physical attributes rather than her acting chops. Hopefully she might return to acting in the near future, for she's got untapped potential here.
