20 Horror Movie Scenes That Make Absolutely No Sense
17. Halloween II (1981) - The Empty Hospital
Plot: This sequel picks up right where the original left off, as Michael Myers (Dick Warlock) continues his rampage in the hospital where Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is being treated.
Prior to 2018's legacy sequel, 1981's Halloween II was by far the best of the Halloween sequels, and it remains an entertaining watch even now, although it is also pretty dumb in places. Specifically, its depiction of Haddonfield Memorial Hospital is just weird.
So, Michael is able to get around this massive, CCTV-covered building without being properly detected, and this massive hospital seems to have no-one in it aside from Laurie, several newborn babies, and some very incompetent staff, a couple of whom even neglect their duties to get down to business in a hot tub. As anyone who's ever visited any sort of hospital will know, this is a monumentally inaccurate way to depict a place like this!
2009's Halloween II does pay homage to this movie with a hospital chase scene, and while that hospital was also unrealistically empty, in that instance, it worked because this part of the movie was just a dream sequence. In this case, it was a real head-scratcher. This mistake was probably due to the movie's low budget, and it definitely would've been worth splashing out on a few more extras. It would've made the picture more believable, that's for sure.
