20 Horror Movies That Fall Apart In The Final Act
12. Heart Eyes
Heart Eyes is an intriguing and unique fusion of slasher flick and romantic comedy that started out pretty well before coming undone by the end. Why? Well, in terms of its villains, it went down the Scream route of having known characters revealed as the villains at the end, and it fatally bungled this part of the story.
In this case, there are three killers. One is unmasked earlier on, and that one is a character unknown to viewers, but as for the other two? They're so obvious it kind of hurts.
It turns out that the killers are Detective Jeannine Shaw (The Fast and the Furious' Jordana Brewster) and police IT technician David (Yoson An), who are revealed to be a couple that gets off on murdering other couples. This surprised precisely no one, as there'd been an earlier scene where Jeannine had been attacked by the killer, but the confrontation was left off-screen before she showed up later, largely unharmed aside from an injured arm.
As for David, he was only in one scene, but that reveal was predictable as well, as the movie paused to linger on this random character when he was introduced. Both of these twists were duds, and even then, the third act of Heart Eyes is far less interesting than the rest of the film, and it wraps up with a pretty forgettable climax.
