20 Horror Movies That Were JUST Announced

Though it was known well in advance that Danny Boyle and Alex Garland intended to produce a new trilogy of sequels to 28 Days Later, they were also upfront in informing audiences that the third film would only get made if the upcoming 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple was a box office success.

And though the first film in the trilogy, 28 Years Later, was a sure hit this past summer, there was some understandable concern about its divisive ending potentially turning audiences off from going to see the follow-up.

But fans can now rest easy, as Sony has been so encouraged by the early screening responses to The Bone Temple that they've already confirmed that they are indeed moving forward with 28 Years Later Part III.

Alex Garland is returning to pen the script and Cillian Murphy is expected to star, after making his return to the franchise in a small role in The Bone Temple, reprising his role of original protagonist Jim.
