20 Recent Horror Movies EVERYONE Knew Would Suck

17. Fear Street: Prom Queen

I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025
Netflix

Netflix's original three-part adaptation of R. L. Stine's Fear Street novels was a massive hit for the streamer, and so it was simply a given that more would be on the way soon enough.

The fourth film in the series was later confirmed to be Fear Street: Prom Queen, though expectations immediately sank once it was also announced that Leigh Janiak - who directed and co-wrote the three original films - wouldn't be returning to helm this one. More to the point, none of the writers who worked with Janiak on that trilogy returned for Prom Night either, and to top it all off, the trailers didn't really pass the vibe check, suggesting a sure drop in quality.

And that's exactly what happened.

With a distinct lack of interesting characters and few memorable kills, while also rocking a thunderously predictable twist, this was a huge step down from Janiak's superb original trilogy.

Fingers crossed that Netflix manages to course-correct with the three additional Fear Street movies that are currently in development.
