17. The Violence Is Massively Toned Down (Due To Columbine)
One of the biggest hurdles facing Scream 3's production actually occurred roughly two months before filming commenced.
The Columbine High School massacre led Miramax to consider delaying the film to avoid negative publicity, and at one point the studio even pondered making it with no gore or on-screen violence at all, until director Wes Craven told them to cancel the movie in that case.
Ultimately Miramax settled upon a compromise, insisting that Craven scale back the gore present in the first two films while having the script lean harder into the series' satirical angle.
