10 2000s Albums That Are A Lot Better Than You Remember

1. A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay

It seems like everything that Coldplay has done in recent years has disappeared under a heap of neon-colored artwork. While Chris Martin has always been more than willing to try new things with each passing record, the amount of pop appeal of songs like Something Just Like This have made people turn off from these British rockers for years now. That wasn't the story on a Rush of Blood to the Head...these guys were meant to be the future of rock.

Long before Viva La Vida would send them into the stratosphere again, this record was where Coldplay really started to impress us, shedding away the Radiohead copycat skin they had on Parachutes and making something a lot more earnest. Although most people remember the big singles off of here like Clocks and the Scientist, other gems like Politik show a lot more muscle at work behind the instrumentation, as well as some more introspective moments on songs like Warning Sign and even the all acoustic Green Eyes.

Up until this point, this was one of the first Coldplay albums that actually felt like a true experience to listen to, which they would go on to refine on records like X&Y. Despite having much better songs on their other records, this is probably the first album to give to someone if they want to experience Coldplay as a creative force for the first time.
