10 Albums That The Critics Got Wrong

5. Be Here Now - Oasis

It comes with the territory that music critics want a little bit more than just a catchy tune. Since they listen to music day in and day out, you want to make sure that you still feel challenged whenever you press play on Spotify to keep you on your toes. But when you find yourself super behind the times, you'll heap praise on just about anything. Case in point: Be Here Now.

Instead of neglecting a masterpiece, this was one of the many flagrant times when critics loved an album that the public universally despised. Although the hype train for Oasis was through the roof after What's the Story Morning Glory, that wasn't stopping them from going a bit overboard on this record, with songs that were far too long and led to absolutely nothing by the time they were through.

Then again, the critics were harsh to Definitely Maybe and What's the Story back in the day, so they talked this album up like it was the second coming, calling it one of the greatest albums ever made this side of the Beatles. You only need to look at the more recent evaluations to see critics dial things back, talking about how they may have overreacted just a little bit. Even if there are a few good tracks here, there are some albums that rose colored glasses can't fix.
