10 Albums That Will Make You Love Emo

6. Spanish Love Songs - Spanish Love Songs

Editor's Note: Brave Faces Everyone is the album title; not self-titled

One of the biggest complaints that people make about emo is just how depressing it can be...and it's not like they're necessarily wrong either. We were all going through something when listening to these bands, and the lyric sheets behind these songs are not going to be a walk in the park when you hear them either. The world felt like it was burning around us, but Spanish Love Songs gave us one thing we needed: optimism.

Then again, don't go thinking that this record is going to solve all of your problems either. Going through songs like Kick and Self Destruction (as a Sensible Career Choice), this is still the kind of existential dread that most of us are feeling, only this time it seems to be getting that much worse. For the millennials still growing up in the world, this is the kind of album that wrings too true in some spots, like talking about how impossible it is to find a job and even losing friends along the way either through addiction or some other tragic circumstance.

There is a lot of darkness here, but the core message behind it is to keep moving. Even though you've been through a lot, you've still made it to the other side in one piece, and there's no way that all of these problems are going to stop you from kicking ass along the way either. The world is definitely a much darker place than we probably thought, so it's best to be brave.
