10 Amazing Musicians We Lost In The 2010s

7. Malcolm Young (1953-2017)

AC/DC have certainly earned their stamp in rock music history. The band is a classic example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," with songs centered around the timeless tradition of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. Through the various trials of rock star excess, AC/DC had stuck together through the camaraderie of the Young brothers, Angus and Malcolm.

While much of the attention in the group goes to lead guitarist Angus, with his schoolboy uniform and blistering solos, Malcolm's rhythm guitar is something that cannot be replaced. Any guitarist will tell you that the first step to greatness is to work on rhythm, and Malcolm was the master of it. In his hands, Malcolm took simple power chords and turned them into classic anthems like "Highway to Hell" and "Back in Black."

Today, the band plays on with the Youngs' cousin Stevie filling Malcolm's shoes on tour and in the studio. Malcolm's style may not have been the hardest thing to learn, but his riff writing and rhythmic swing is something that will never be equaled.
