10 Amazing Rock Songs That Divided Bands

9. Bring It On Down - Oasis

You could probably chalk up every single second of the recording process of Definitely Maybe as a hellish experience. After already declaring themselves as one of the greatest bands in England, Oasis were definitely struggling to have anything to show for it, having to record the album multiple different times before actually finding the magic with Owen Morris behind the board. Even then, there was always Bring It On Down to worry about.

Throughout each session, Tony McCarroll would always find himself out of step with the rest of the band, either dragging behind the beat or not playing it the same way he did when they played the tune live. While Noel had a remedy for this the first time around by writing Supersonic in about an hour, it was getting pretty dire towards the end, eventually leading to Noel hiring a session drummer to play the song instead of Tony.

That turned out to be what wound him up though, as Tony got more and more infuriated when the session drummer couldn't get the timing right. In a fit of rage, Tony went back into the control room and played through the intro in one go with no mistakes, much to the surprise of everyone watching. He was a hero that day, but it wasn't meant to last: Noel would later ditch him for Alan White before the Morning Glory sessions.
