10 Amazing Rock Songs With No Lyrics

9. Plug Me In - George Harrison

Following the dissolution of The Beatles, George Harrison decided he'd had enough of being bossed around by Lennon and McCartney, and set about showing the world what he was made of.

The end result was All Things Must Pass, Harrison's triumphant third solo record and one of the greatest solo Beatles releases of all time. A mammoth triple album, it proved that the so-called "quiet one" was just as gifted as his more ostentatious counterparts.

The third disc, titled Apple Jam, was a collection of instrumental pieces and one bizarre song called It's Johnny's Birthday, set to the tune of Cliff Richard's Congratulations. Directly afterwards comes Plug Me In, a duel between some of the greatest guitar talents of the day.

Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Traffic's Dave Mason each take turns to wring the hell out of their instruments, delivering some blistering solos over the top of a bluesy-rocky beat. It's big, it's bold, and you can tell that everyone is having a lot of fun.

For the full experience, listen to It's Johnny's Birthday right before Plug Me In. You won't regret it.
