10 Amazing Rock Songs Written For Movies
4. A Hard Day's Night - Beatles
The Beatles almost seemed destined to take the music world by storm. Ever since their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, their journey to the top of the charts was nothing short of meteoric, with almost every other song they put out getting on top of the charts. However, the Fabs weren't just concerned with being musicians...it was time to take Elvis's lead and become movie stars.
Going into filming for their first major motion picture, there hadn't yet been so much as a working title for the film. Trying to find something that would capture the magic of their hectic lives, John Lennon returned home from filming one day and came up with A Hard Day's Night, whose title was lifted from one of Ringo Starr's malapropisms. Opening like a ray of sunlight on the record, this track became the ideal song to showcase how much madness came with being in one of the biggest bands in the world.
Not only did this song capture the excitement of Beatlemania, but it also was a great metaphor for just how draining the touring life can be for an average rock musician. While no one will ever know what it was like to be a Beatle outside of those four musicians, this at least gives us a glimpse as to what the life must be like. Fun...but not for the faint of heart.
