10 Artists That Changed Music Genres (And Everyone Hated It)

2. Just Push Play - Aerosmith

After I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, there was pretty much nothing that could kill Aerosmith. Ever since their days being the Bad Boys From Boston, they had been able to soldier on with hits throughout almost every decade, coming out virtually unscathed in the era of grunge with ballads like Cryin and Livin on the Edge. A new millennium was upon us though, and this is where we started to really see the cracks in the foundation.

Even though Nine Lives may have been a little too squeaky clean for most fans to stomach, Just Push Play feels like the band on autopilot a lot of the time, going for songs that are much more pop friendly and throwing out the rock side of their sound altogether. It's not like they're bad at delivering pop songs either, with tracks like Beyond Beautiful and Jaded sounding like the next logical step since their big blockbuster smash. Outside of those few songs though, the rest of the record feels like the band trend chasing, making songs that feel like they should be used as background music in a movie.

It's not like the rest of the band disagreed with that assessment either, since the next song Girls of Summer barely featured any contributions from the band outside of Steven Tyler. You have to at least give them some sort of credit there...at least they own up when they think something is garbage.
