10 Awesome Music Festivals We Should All Aim To Visit
10. Roskilde Festival Denmark
Starting in a similar manner to most other festivals which pre-date 1980 as an outing for local hippies, this festival takes place annually at a location on the south side of the Danish city of Roskilde. As one of the largest festivals in Europe, the event has grown from a small gathering first assembled in 1971 into a gargantuan swarm of modern musical culture. Boasting an eclectic line-up which annually stretches across some nine stages, Roskilde has noted headliners as versatile as The Kinks, Bob Marley, Leonard Cohen, Ray Charles and Prince over the years. Accommodating all kinds of tastes, Roskilde remains as popular now as it ever was. With tickets commonly selling out months in advance, now would be the time to act should you fancy a jaunt to Denmark this summer. Acts announced so far for this year's festival (29th June 6th July) include Arctic Monkeys, HAIM, Deerhunter, Major Lazer and, um, Carcass.
