10 Awesome Music Festivals We Should All Aim To Visit
4. Isle Of Wight Festival England
Taking place on the lovely Isle of Wight (oddly enough) off England's southern coast, this festival initially ran between 1968 and 1970- a period during which it played cordial host to several legendary performances from the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and The Who. Reprised in 2002, the festival has been expanding gradually every year since. In the early days the festival encapsulated the free will and immense spirit of the time- and it's good to know that modern day organisers seek to maintain these musical themes as best they can. Though it may not be the most popular festival in the country (or even the Isle of Wight, see 'Bestival'), this gathering does carry a weighted history, having acted as influence upon many future figures of musical importance. Worth visiting on the strength of its history alone, I'd say. This year, Biffy Clyro, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Kings of Leon will headline the festival, which runs from June 12th 15th.
